Season 2 opens in the foothills. On September 9, 2020, the North Complex Fire swept through Berry Creek, California — a quiet community of roughly 1,200 people tucked into the Sierra Nevada. By the time the smoke cleared, 16 lives had been lost, more than 1,800 structures were gone, and over 318,000 acres had burned. Most of the town was no longer there.

This shirt is a memorial. The back shows the weathered "Welcome to Berry Creek, Population 1,200" sign standing alone in a field of ash and stone, with candles lit and flowers laid at its base. A child's teddy bear sits among the rocks. Below the image, the facts of what happened — the date, the fire's name, what was lost — are recorded plainly, without embellishment.
